“Forever Boy” Takes Finalist in Readers’ Favorite Contest

Lita is delighted to tell Gentle Reader that the 2015 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest named Forever Boy as the Finalist Winner in its Fiction-Short Story category.

This year, Readers’ Favorite honored one of Lita’s Clockpunk Wizard stories. They named Forever Boy as a Finalist Winner in their annual book awards contest. Here is their 5 star review of Forever Boy.

Lita skipped all the way to Alice’s place to tell her good friend the news. “My feet were so caddywhompus on the way here,” Lita said. “I should have stopped and dug for apples until they sorted themselves out.”

The Flamingos Were a Bit Cross

Alice insisted they celebrate with a rousing game of croquet. As usual, the flamingos were a bit cross about being the mallets. The hedgehogs abandoned their role as balls, and waddled away.

The girls then drank tea with the dormouse until it was time for Lita to go home.

Lita recently left her castle in the snowy northern realms for a visit to the 2014 Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest ceremony in the sultry swelter of Miami, Florida.

Lita met fellow writers of many genres, exchanged spell papers (okay, business cards), and drank magical potions (cocktails).

The night air crackled with breathless talk and the lightening-strike pops of flashbulbs. Women wearing sparkling gowns made of starry fireflies floated past tuxedoed gents. The authors clutched their precious books stuffed with beguiling stories, and held them up for the obliging cameras.

And then there was that breathless minute: walk to center stage, accept the award, and all but swoon from the applause for your story. Heavenly.

Lita rushed over to Alice’s place to tell her good friend the news. “I am so discombobulated,” Lita said. “I forgot my handkerchief. I feel like a hobbit setting out on a grand adventure!”

As Usual, the Cake Made the Girls Grow

Alice insisted they celebrate with a mad tea party. As usual, the cake made the girls grow, bump their heads on the ceiling, and giggle.

The tea from the bottle labeled “Drink Me” shrunk them to the size of dormouse. Then they played the game of I Spy Things That Start with the Letter M until it was time for Lita to go home.

The constant attacks from the Church force the Enchanters to escape. Tredan, Lanith’s husband, has also vanished. Both her shop and home have been burnt. She seeks the Enchanter Nyle’s help to search for Tredan.

They find Tredan’s journal where he has written down spells that will ruin the Enchanter’s magic. At the same time, an Enforcer comes in time to take Tredan’s journal. Lanith should keep the journal away from the Church magician so that the Enchanters are not destroyed. Lanith is also overpowered by Nyle’s charm and she has to resist him.

Surround Yourself with the Deep and Sensual Magical World of the Enchanters in Tredan’s Bane

The story is very intriguing and, at the same time, exciting. The scenes are evocative and sensual. The Church is the dominating factor in this tale which has many ingredients. The author has woven a story of adventure, magic, romance, passion, intrigue, suspense, murder, and religion with expertise.

The book is well written and it is action packed and fast paced. The author has done well in defining each character. The Enchanter Nyle’s character is ‘enchanting’ and mysterious. Another exciting part of the story is provided by Lanith’s pet dragonette who is also part of the main plot.

The tension between the Church and the Enchanters is palpable throughout the book. That gives tension and a unique angle to the story line.”
